Store Inventory in China for Your Distribution Plan

Plan local inventory around replenishment, stock visibility and delivery channels. Review SKU records, storage conditions and order patterns before selecting a Shanghai warehouse.

Choose what stock to hold locally

To store inventory in China, begin with the assortment and replenishment problem you need to solve. Separate fast-moving products, seasonal stock and slow sellers. Estimate how much inventory belongs near buyers and how often it will be replenished. Overseas brands should also identify the party responsible for importing the goods.

Define usable inventory records

Provide a SKU list with unit and carton identifiers, quantities per carton, dimensions and batch or serial references. Where relevant, add manufacture and expiry dates. Agree how saleable, damaged, reserved and returned stock are distinguished. Inventory reports are useful only when the warehouse and sales channels use the same definitions.

Choose the stock movement rules

A distributor drawing full pallets has different needs from parcel orders or store replenishment. Specify minimum dispatch quantities, allocation priorities and any stock segregation by owner or channel. Discuss cycle counts and how discrepancies will be reported. A mixed B2B and B2C plan needs a defined unit conversion between cartons and individual items.

Prepare the first replenishment

Send an opening stock estimate, arrival pattern, order forecast and destination list. Describe temperature, humidity and handling requirements. TAPO assesses the storage and delivery scope at Hongqiao/Minhang or Jiading without assuming the two locations have identical facilities.

Questions before shipment

Can a foreign brand arrange storage in China?

A foreign brand can discuss a warehousing contract with TAPO. The shipment still needs an appropriate import route and the responsible parties identified.

Is inventory automatically available to every sales channel?

No. Allocation, customs status, product acceptance and channel requirements must be agreed before stock is released.
