Classify the product and proposed route
How to import cosmetics into China depends on product identity, intended use and sales route. Provide formulations or product information needed for classification, plus any existing regulatory references. Avoid applying a checklist for one class of cosmetics to every beauty product.
Identify product responsibilities early
State the overseas brand, proposed importer and the parties responsible for the product’s regulatory work. The NMPA service portal identifies separate imported ordinary-cosmetics filing and special-cosmetics matters. Review the applicable process for the actual product and route; warehouse services alone do not resolve it.
Align packaging, labels and stock records
Provide SKU and carton information, batch coding, expiry information and approved label artwork where relevant. Specify any proposed relabelling or promotional assembly. Product requirements and the permitted warehouse work must support the task before an operating scope is agreed.
Prepare arrival and distribution instructions
Send storage specifications, handling characteristics, shipment size and order channels. Identify products containing alcohol or aerosols for assessment and describe damaged-stock and return procedures. TAPO reviews the contracted storage, customs coordination and transport plan; it does not assume product acceptance from the category name.
